Stone cities, emerald rivers, and the Adriatic foothills.
Every journey is charted across Bosnia & Herzegovina with intention. A single line for a single week, and the slow cartography of a country best met unhurried.
Four days through Herzegovina — the stone streets of Mostar, the dervish lodge at Blagaj where the river emerges from the mountain, a private dinner on the Neretva, and the Ottoman villages of the Trebižat valley.
You are met at Sarajevo airport and driven through the Neretva canyon to Mostar — one of the most scenic two-hour drives in Europe. Check into your boutique hotel in a restored Ottoman house a few steps from the old bridge. The evening is yours, with a suggested walk across Stari Most at dusk when the stones turn gold and the river below turns black.
Dinner at a family restaurant tucked behind the bazaar, where the ćevapi have been made the same way for forty years.
A morning tour of the old town with our historian, who walks you through the layered story of the bridge: its Ottoman origins, its destruction in 1993, and its painstaking reconstruction. You climb the minaret of the Koski Mehmed Paša mosque for the photograph nobody else in your group will have.
Afternoon drive to Blagaj, where the Buna river pours out of a cliff beneath an old dervish lodge. We take tea on the terrace above the water and linger until the light softens. Dinner tonight is private, beside the Neretva, by a chef who cooks only for UltraTravel groups.
A day in the Ottoman stone village of Počitelj, climbing the minaret and the fortress walls, and then down into the Trebižat valley for lunch at a family winery. You walk among the vines, learn how the karst landscape shapes the wine, and taste six local varietals with the grower himself.
We return to Mostar by way of Kravice waterfalls — a hidden amphitheater of cascades where you can swim in summer.
A slow morning in Mostar — one last Bosnian coffee in the bazaar, perhaps a final walk across the bridge — before we drive you back to Sarajevo airport in time for afternoon departures. If your flight is later, we can arrange a short stop at the Jablanica lake or a late lunch in Konjic on the way.
